Say It Isn't So!

The UN is bitching about President Bush undermining them with his proposed aid coalition, claiming that they have a monopoly on such efforts.

“I think this initiative from America to set up four countries claiming to coordinate sounds like yet another attempt to undermine the UN when it is the best system we have got and the one that needs building up,” sez UN developement secretary Clare Short. “Only really the UN can do that job.”

“It is the only body that has the moral authority. But it can only do it well if it is backed up by the authority of the great powers.”

Hello? Moral Authority? Have you heard of the Oil Vouchers for UN Votes bribery scandal, Clare? Why should we trust the UN with our money? The best part of the UN has always been US influence. Otherwise, it's a vacation resort for third world thugs, dictators, anti-Semites and assorted socialists to give them a platform to demand wealth transfers from free nations who respect human rights to their self-inflicted poverty stricken hellholes so they can continue to loot and stash the money in Switzerland, ala Arafat.

The rest of her statement is as addled as what I've put here. Good for Bush. The UN has made itself irrelevant thru scandal and incompetence. It's time to show them through such actions that they aren't trusted anymore.
